Webinar on "Leveraging OERs to Enhance Higher Learning"


CEMCA in collaboration with DELNET, India organised a Webinar session on "Leveraging OERs to Enhance Higher Learning" on September 30, 2022. The Session was attended by 500 educational professionals and librarians across the globe. Dr Sangeeta Kaul, Director

DELNET-Developing Library Network moderated the session and she stated that OER contributes to the building of open and inclusive knowledge societies, and to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, namely SDG 4 (Quality education), SDG 5 (Gender equality), SDG 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced inequalities within and across countries), SDG 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals). In his introductory remarks Dr B. Shadrach, Director, CEMCA focused on Learning for Sustainable Development through OER and quality learning opportunity for various stakeholders. He also emphasised the benefits of OER stating that: it reduces cost, increasing access and innovation in education.

Dr Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, Senior Programme Officer (Education), CEMCA facilitated the webinar. Through his presentation, create awareness on OER among the participants. The webinar covers the basics of OER, its genesis and growth in teaching-learning. The participants were also exposed to open-source tools for sharing their institutional OER and attaching appropriate Creative Commons (CC) licenses to the newly created OER. The webinar significantly contributed to creating awareness among LIS Professionals, Teachers, Educators, Learners, Education support personnel, Teacher trainers, and educational policymakers.
