Valedictory Session during Regional Community Radio Sammelan (North) at IIMC, New Delhi

On the second day of the two-day Regional Community Radio Sammelan (North) 2023, Dr. B. Shadrach, Director, CEMCA, addressed the gathering in the Valedictory Session at the India Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi.

He said that the organisation recognises the importance of Community Radio in the dissemination of education, the generation of awareness, and problem-solving abilities in the remotest corners of India. He added that the initiative taken by the Ministry to expand the reach of radio in India and realise the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of having a Community Radio station in each district, with further percolation to one in every Block, is a big step in that direction.

He spoke on the need for a platform to bring together the experiences of these Community Radio Stations and expressed support for the ministry's creation of a network platform where these stations could share their ideas and experiences so that the best of these could be replicated across the country.

Dr. Shadrach concluded with a thank you note to the Ministry for giving CEMCA the opportunity to develop the Compendium of Community Radio Stations in India. He further added that CEMCA will organise international webinars and seminars for Community Radio Stations in Commonwealth countries to share their best practises, experiences, and challenges.
